Student Leadership at GIS
With around 200 Student Leaders across Primary and Secondary, GIS offers meaningful opportunities to lead across a range of ‘strands’—from sustainability and wellbeing to sport, community and digital innovation.
By taking ownership of real initiatives, our students develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of purpose. From leading charity events to launching community projects, GIS Student Leaders are empowered to make a genuine and lasting impact.
Primary Student Leadership Opportunities
Leadership at GIS starts early. From Years 3 to 6, students step into roles such as Student Council, Green Dragons and Playground Leaders—using their voices to shape school life.
With opportunities spanning wellbeing, digital learning, the arts and community initiatives, our students develop confidence, empathy and teamwork—building the foundations of future leadership.

Secondary Student Leadership Opportunities
Leadership and teamwork are at the heart of life at GIS. Through a wide range of opportunities, students are empowered to lead change in areas that matter to them.
Across nine strands—from Sport and Digital to Community Service and Sustainability—students in Years 7 to 10 and Year 12 take on purposeful roles, gaining real experience while shaping our school community. These experiences build confidence, responsibility and a strong foundation for life beyond GIS.
